Di Xiao began her Rising Star Series of Concerts in Birmingham Town Hall on 26 October 2008 Click Here to read a Review! The European Rising Stars series was inaugurated by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) in 1996. The principal halls participating in ECHO are the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Palais des Beaux-Arts Brussels, Philharmonie Cologne, Cité de la musique Paris, Megaron Athens, Konserthus Stockholm, Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Symphony Hall Birmingham and Carnegie Hall, New York – the only non-European member of ECHO. The Series features young artists, nominated by each of the participating concert halls, who are considered to be on the threshold of international careers. Di Xiao's European tour continued in style at the Athens Megaron on 10th December. A sell out concert followed at Luxembourg Philharmonie Salle de Musique de Chambre where the packed hall was reluctant to let her leave the stage. Di Xiao then moved on to the historic Hamburg Laeiszhalle where once again an extremely warm audience enjoyed 2 encores before they were satisfied. The next leg of the tour took Ms Xiao to Barcelona L'Auditori where her passionate Ravel was a huge success. At Brussels Bozar Di Xiao was particularly happy to see so many young people in the audience. Arguably the highlight of Di Xiao's career so far came at Amsterdam Concertgebouw where she received an enthusiastic standing ovation from the delighted crowd. The next stop was Salzburg Mozarteum Wiener Saal on 24 March at 19:30 then straight on to Vienna Wienkonzerthaus on 25 March again at 19:30 both, completely full, halls gave Di huge applause and were particularly impressed with her redition of Sergej Prokofjew's Mimoletnosti / Visions fugitives op. 22 (Nr. 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 17) and Sonata Nr. 6 A-Dur op. 82. Her lunchtime concert, again a sell out, at Stockholm Concert Hall (Konserthus) left a number of the audience in tears such was the emotion Di Xiao was able to convey in her music. The final recital of Di Xiao’s ECHO Rising Star European Tour took place on Sunday 29 March 2009 in the spectacular setting of the Cologne Philharmonie. Watching Di Xiao take the final bow of the series in front of almost 1000 people was a perfect finale to a wonderful Tour.
